Poon Saan is a small settlement on Christmas Island, an external territory of Australia. Ethnic Chinese make up the majority of inhabitants. In Chinese, Poon Saan (半山, Jyutping: bun3 saan1, Pinyin: bàn shān) means "halfway up the hill".[1]
Poon Saan is the second largest settlement on Christmas Island. There are 2 Chinese restaurants and 1 tourist accommodation (The Christmas Island Lodge) in the settlement.
To shop for clothings and gifts, there is a shopping complex in Poon Saan called Tropicana Boutique which sells a variety of clothes, shoes and gifts, and the other shopping complex is called the Poon Saan shops.
